Bambarakanda Water Fall In Sri Lanka

Bambarakanda waterfall is highest waterfall of Sri Lanka and which is situated at Haldumulla Electorate of Badulla district. This waterfall is high about 241m. Water comes to this fall from Horton plains and after this water goes to Samanala wawa means the valley looks like a butterfly. After via Valawe river this water goes to sea.

Travel to this place is not so easy than other waterfalls of Sri Lanka because this fall is far away.Four wheel vehicle is suitable for that jounney.

There are some waterfalls closed to Bambarakanda falls. Those are Bambarakanda Ella, Lanka Ella , Uduwara Ella and  Nagadowa Ella. Several mini waterfalls also available. It's also beautiful but not higher than Bambarakanda and not famous.

Wasgamuwa Park

Wasgamuwa national park is on of the wild life hotspot of Sri Lanka. The name Wasgamuwa in Sinhala language mean forest of sloth bear. It was originally declared by English government as a strict nature reserve in 1938 and later change as a national park in 1984. The park lies within central and north- central provinces. The land covered totally is 39,322 ha.

Park consists of riverine forest, dry mixed evergreen forest, grasslands and wetlands. It is almost surrounded by Mahaweli and Amban Rivers, riverine forest area is fairly large. Flora of the park consists of Palu (Manilkara hexandra), Weera (Drypetes sepiaria), Satin (Chloroxylon swietenia), Wa (Cassia roxburghii),GalSiyambala(Dialium ovoideum) and Ebony (Diospyros ebenum). The riverine forest dominated by Kumbuk (Terminalia arjuna), Mee (Madhuca longifoloa) and Thimbiri(Diospyros malabarica). Grasslands mainly consist of (Imperata cylindrica).

Wasgamuwa is famous as an elephant jungle. These elephants are known to be less habituated to people and are more wildish. Other than elephant, leopard, sloth bear, sambhur, spotted and barking deer,wild boar and wild buffalo are also found here.
